Minds in Motion

The kids had a blast checking out our new program Minds in Motion.  I can't wait to have it set up in our new building and get to do it everyday with the kids.  They were balancing, bouncing, catching, and spinning their way all around the maze.  It was A LOT of sweaty heart pounding FUN!!!

Communty Helpers

We had an AWESOME week talking about community helpers!  We started the week with Mr. and Mrs. Jacobi coming in to talk to us about delivering oil.  The kids got to go out and see an oil truck up close.  They learned that each truck carries 2 different oils at one time and there are 5 different types of oil!

After seeing the truck up close, the kids came into the classroom to discover there were trucks everywhere!  There was "dirt" and construction trucks in the sensory tub.

We painted with cars.

We tore paper to make a stoplight.

And we even made our very own oil truck!

On Tuesday we got to see a police car!

We opened up the Classroom Post Office!  It was a HUGE hit.  The kids loved writing letters to their friends and family, using envelops, and even adding stamps.

We also opened the classroom bakery.  The kids had to fill out order forms and pay for their goodies, while others ran the cash register and baked all the goodies.

We even made some very cute chef hats to go along with the bakery!
We ended the week with Mr. and Mrs. Roberts talking to us about being an Occupational Therapist and Optometrist! They brought in many of the tools they use and the kids even got to hold them and test some of them out!
We started with Mrs. Roberts teaching us about Occupational Therapy.

We learned that many people who see Dr. Roberts for Occupational Therapy have a hard time using their fingers.  This little one got to see first hand how hard it is for some people to button their shirts by putting socks over her hands!
This little guys is testing out a tool they use to strengthen hand muscles.

This tool helps people who can't bend down put on their socks!

Dr. Roberts taught us about what an Optometrist does.

We checked out what it looked like looking through his tools!

Got to check out some cool glasses.

And everyone got to bring a pair of these COOL glasses home!
Here is a very cool picture of the inside of an eye.  The kids were amazed by what it looked like.
To go along with Dr. Roberts' visit we had a Doctors Office set up in the room,

and the kids made their very own Dr. kit for home!
We are continuing to practice our reading skills with mini books everyday!  This week our book was Community Helpers.  Just look how they are following along and pointing to each word!  Mrs. Jen is so proud of them!

Snowmen

We continued our chilly study of snow and ice this week with the theme of snowmen.  The kids had a blast in the sensory tub making their own snow creations with packing peanuts and water!
We continued to practice writing our last name, this time we wrote our last name on snowballs and built some really tall snowmen!
We wrote our names in "snow" a.k.a. shaving cream!
We played a game that had us rolling the dice and cutting out the appropriate part to build our snowman.
We used different sized jars to paint snowmen independently at the art table.
Wrote another class book about our favorite things to do in the snow.
And read a lot of snowy book

in our really chilly reading igloo!
It was another great week with an awesome group of kids.  I am so blessed to be their teacher and feel so lucky to be a part of their learning experience.
