We had "snow" much fun today exploring ice and having a little bit of fun with snow as well. We learned a lot about ice today and even did our very first science experiment. We explored ice to see how it felt. The kids decided the best way to describe ice was "cold, freezy, slippery, and wet."
Then we read a story and sang a song about ice, learning how it melts when it gets warm out.
Then came the fun part, we performed our first experiment! We used syringes to suck up warm water out of a bowl, and then we squirted the warm water onto our ice and watched it melt away! Boy was it fun!
We also learned about the letter "I", the sound it makes, and brainstormed some words that started with I. Then we had fun making icicles on I.
Then we took a break from all the ice and revisited snow. We had a big bucket of "snow" and the kids were able to play with the snow however they saw fit. It was so much fun to see their little minds working. Some made snowmen, others enjoyed throwing it in the air and watching it fall, some made snowangels, and many of them just enjoyed collecting as much snow as they could! It really was "snow" much fun.
All in all it was a great day with a great group of kids!
I can't wait to see you all next week.
