Pond Life

This week we learned all about ponds and pond life. The kids had a lot of fun exploring the "pond" in our classroom and all the wild life that was in it.

After they were done exploring the pond, we sat down to talk about all the animals they saw, and learned some interesting facts about some of them.  They learned that a snake's skin doesn't grow with them, they shed it when it becomes to small for them.   Then they even had a chance to feel some real snake skin!  Most of the kids gave it a try but some said it was "disgusting."

We also learned that frogs start off as eggs, then hatch as tadpoles, grow legs, and become a big frog.  Then we made a diagram about frogs and wrote the letter F for frog.

We had a lot of fun doing a frog letter match,

Frog counting,

Frog painting,

And finger paint!!!!!

It was another great day with a great group of kids.  We are so blessed!

Easter

This week we learned all about Easter.  We learned about why we celebrate Easter, some Easter traditions, and all about the letter E!

We talk about Jesus and how he died on the cross for us, was buried, and then rose from his grave.  The kids then practice coloring inside the lines while they colored a cross to celebrate Jesus.

Then we talked about how we celebrate Easter with the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs.  The kids gave their fine motor skills a workout while they squeezed the glue bottle to attach cotton balls on the Easter Bunny.

And manipulated Play-Doh to make Easter shapes.

Then we had A LOT of fun with Easter Eggs.  The kids loved decoding their special message while water coloring their egg!

And stamping Easter Stamps

The big skill we worked on this week was names.

The kids had to recognize their own name.

Then we talked about the letters in their name.

Finally they worked on writing the 1st letter of their name all by themselves!  I am very proud of them, all that tracing practice is really paying off!

It was another great day with a great group of kids!

Birds

This week the kids had fun with birds while learning about what they eat, where they live, and the letter "F".  The kids loved exploring bird seed in the sensory table.

Then they used Cheerios to make bird feeders!

They also got a chance to learn about the letter "F" and the sounds it make while painting with a feather and gluing feathers on a paper bag to make a bird puppet.  I think they turned out very cute!

We also got to celebrate a friends birthday with cupcakes and a little birthday song.  Happy Birthday Friend!!!!

It was a great day with a great group of kids!  We are so blessed!

Butterflies

This week we learned all about butterflies and the butterfly life cycle.   The kids loved learning how a caterpillar "magically" appears into a butterfly by making their own caterpillar, butterfly, and cocoon, then they were able to act out the cycle!  It was great seeing their eyes light up as their butterfly magically appeared.

First they worked on making their caterpillar and butterfly.

Then we put them together and wrapped them up in their cocoon.

We waited for them to do their "magic" and then...... TaaaDaaa out comes a beautiful butterfly!

We also talked about how butterfly starts with "B" and made beautiful butterflies.

And as always, we had a lot of fun with our friends!

It was another great day with a great group of kids!  Thanks for sharing them with us.  We have so much fun with them!
